About Us

The Oilworkers’ Trade Union (NPS) is a voluntary, autonomous and non-partisan organisation representing and defending the labour, economic and social rights and interests of its members in accordance with the Statutes and the Code of Ethics adopted by the Conference.

The Trade Union unites employees of AB ORLEN Lietuva, UAB ORLEN Service Lietuva, UAB ORLEN Apsauga, Mažeikiai Polytechnic School, employees of other legal entities established on the basis of activity of AB ORLEN Lietuva’s subdivisions, as well as employees of enterprises, institutions, organisations whose admission to the Trade Union was approved by the Council.

Our beginning

The history of the NPS began on 21 November 1990. On that day, the democratically reorganised trade union of the Mažeikiai Oil Refinery was registered in the Mažeikiai District Municipality. The colourful history of the Oil Workers’ Trade Union began from that moment.

What we do

Ensuring better working conditions

NPS is a strong partner that ensures better working conditions and strengthens worker unity through collective bargaining, legal advice, training, international cooperation and active participation in ORLEN Group.

Defending workers' rights

We mediate for workers in collective bargaining with the employer, advise members on the Labour Code and other labour law issues, represent members in labour disputes, organise training and events, etc.

Analysing trends

We take an ongoing interest in the activities of the ORLEN Group’s European Works Council and the decisions it takes that affect the conditions of workers in our companies.

Strengthening our community

We invest in attracting new leaders, learning and connecting with all NPS members. Information dissemination and proper communication are key pillars of the NPS’s work.

International cooperation

We actively participate in actions organised by our umbrella organisations and international partners, at various levels, and stand in solidarity with organisations and workers in other countries defending their legitimate interests.

Membership in umbrella organisations

NPS is a member of the Lithuanian Federation of Industrial Trade Unions (LIFTU) and through LIFTU is a member of the largest national trade union centre, the Lithuanian Confederation of Trade Unions (LFTU), as well as of the international organisations, the European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU) and the European Industrial Trade Union (IndustriAll Europe).
